| Job Description | Engineering Manager The Engineering Manager leads the optical engineering activity at G & H Moorpark and provides assistance to sales, customer support, manufacturing, and other engineering groups within Gooch and Housego. The Engineering Manager interfaces directly with customers regarding technical aspects of specifications and communicates with customer specification to production and QA personnel.
Job Responsibilities
•Comprehensive understanding of the processes used in manufacturing and polishing of high precision optical components.
•Thorough understanding of specifications such as surface PV, power, irregularity, roughness, slope error, scratch/dig, used to define precision optical surfaces and components.
•Thorough understanding of the methods and equipment used to test optical components including, interferometers, autocollimators, DIC (Nomarski) microscopes, polarization.
•Working knowledge of the theory behind common optical components such as waveplates and etalons. •Manage and execute technical optical projects for delivery on time and under budget.
•Develop and sell technical program and product development proposals to customers and helps determine the specification details, as needed for outgoing (RFQs) quotes/
•Support and collaborate with the entire G&H technical and business organization.
•Provide manufacturing support to resolve manufacturing problems and improve process control Knowledge, Skill and Experience
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required: BS in Optical Engineering or other related optical field. Master degree a plus
Minimum Experience Required: 10 years experience in optical components manufacturing, testing and R & D. Experience with ITAR + ECCN a plus
Skills Required: Strong interpersonal skills, oral presentation and writing skills. Able to perform as an individual contributor in performing complex measurements and equipment troubleshooting. Knowledge of many types of materials used in optical components and what materials would best be used for certain products we are quoting.
