Engineering Technician

Job Description
Use shop equipment and tools to create new fixtures, tooling, parts presentation, etc.
Work and communicate with engineers and others in a team environment.
Take concepts and develop physical parts, fixtures or systems from them.
Follow current procedures and processes while looking for ways to improve.
Create, read and understand mechanical prints / drawings and electrical line diagrams / relay ladder logic.
Set an example for all employees by exhibiting exemplary work habits and wise use of time.
Monitor housekeeping to assure a clean and safe work environment.
Use lean principles such as kaizen, set up reduction, poka yoke, and one piece flow to drive improvements.
Lead groups of people in kaizen improvement activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a 2 year college or technical school and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
At least one year experience in a manufacturing environment to include general engineering, trouble shooting, electrical and mechanical (pneumatics & hydraulics) preferred.
Proficient in the use of manual mills, manual lathes, CNC mills, CNC lathes, surface grinders, general shop tools, MIG welding, TIG welding and general metal working.
Experience leading Kaizen events and follow-up work list completion.
Experience planning and implementing projects (project management).
Experience with Injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment (thermolators, resin dryers, and hoppers, etc.), CNC mills/lathes, reverse osmosis units, Fanuc Controllers & CNC equipment preferred.
PLC and Ladder Logic experience and electrical experience up to 480 VAC/320 VDC preferred.
Ability to diagnose/repair/replace damage or malfunctioning equipment including chilled water, heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and air compressors preferred.
