Job Description
G.W. Schultz Tool is a fast growing and kinetic company trailblazing the new frontier of advanced custom engineered carbide cutting tools. We are looking for a talented, committed and driven person to join our team.
1.DEPARTMENT: Engineering
2.REPORTS TO: Director of Manufacturing
3.OBJECTIVE: Manage the thin films coating department including production, modification, upgrade and maintenance of equipment.
1.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
Manage coating department equipment and processes
Provide leadership by mentoring and training coating department team
Maintain current records on equipment manufacturers’ technical notices, upgrades and safety issues
Study equipment performance and reliability and make recommendations to increase overall stability of performance
Establish programs and solutions for increasing tool uptime/reliability and improving product quality
Provide hands on technical and maintenance support when necessary
Support quality, production, sales and purchasing with respect to design and manufacturing
Actively provide direction to sales quality and production in the analysis and remedy of failed or returned products.
Research and analyze proposals to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and service requirements of customer designs and/or applications
Define and write preventative maintenance schedules and other maintenance procedures
Drive, maintain and support continual improvement including part sourcing and in-house repair
Other duties as assigned
1.QUALIFICATIONS

Relevant Skills:
1. Hands on experience in Vacuum Technologies and processes, including Cleaning Equipment and Processes
2. Cathodic Arc depositions, Sputtering and Magnetron Sputtering depositions
3. Tribiological Thin Films, Depositions, and Processes (prefer cutting tool deposition experience)
4. QA/QC Inspection equipment experience of hard thin films
5. Organizational skills and experience desired within a job shop or true production facility
A) EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred or equivalent education/experience. Other criteria evaluated on a per candidate basis.
B) CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
C) HARDWARE/SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE: Microsoft Office suite. Working knowledge of ERP and/or MRP. Practical knowledge of electronic and electromechanical systems and controls, vacuum/abatement systems, film deposition, and precision gas flow
1.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Strong leadership and team building skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management and functional areas as well.
E) MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Strong geometry knowledge is foundational. Strong trigonometry and calculus required as well.
F) REASONING ABILITY: Must have a strong analytical trouble shooting ability. Good problem solver with the ability to analyze large or complex amounts of data.
G) PERSONAL DIMENSIONS: Ability to multi-task in a fast paced manufacturing environment. Good work ethics, attendance, transportation, hygiene, leadership and teamwork.
