Job Description | This role combines a strong technical vision, engineering skills and flexible packaging experience to develop liquid packaging solutions for two of Scholle’s global markets. Direct interaction with suppliers, customers and other industry participants will be necessary to understand the environment and execute the projects. The role develops solutions and conducts trials with blown film extrusion, lamination, printing, pouch and bag fabrication techniques; as well as coordinates lab testing. The ideal candidate has the ability to think beyond detailed design issues; to manage complex projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Manages the flexible packaging development activities for two of Scholle’s global markets.
•Creates a vision for the technical offering; as well as where it will be implemented.
•Establishes self as a technical subject matter expert in food and non-food packaging via interaction with suppliers, customers and other industry participants.
•Researches advanced polymers and processing technologies with unique properties, to create the next generation value proposition.
•Performs literature and patent searches, scouts for new technologies and actively identify intellectual property and patentable inventions.
•Coordinates blown film extrusion, lamination, printing, pouch and bag developments and trials; as well as lab testing.
•Leads cross-functional teams, including members from the commercial, packaging applications, operations and supply chain departments, to commercialize the vision.
•Ability to travel 25% of the time. International travel is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities. It is a manager of the technical offering; not of employees.

Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Polymer Engineering, or Materials Science from an accredited four-year college or university. Graduate degree preferred.
•Minimum of five years’ experience in blown film extrusion, lamination, printing, and/or pouch.
•Experience in flexible packaging development and trials, and knowledge of food science and filling equipment are required.
