Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Food Scientist, reporting to the VP Product Development, will be responsible for the shared management of the activities of the Flavor & Food Application Laboratory including but not limited to sample design, sample preparation, and part-time staff development. Provide technical leadership, training, and guidance to a large team of part time Laboratory Technicians. The Successful candidate will equip and implement Food applications including but limited to: meat products, soups & sauces, beverages (CSDs & NCBs), yogurt & dairy, oral care and sweet goods.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Formulate basic applications
Provide technical leadership and training
Manage operations of food application preparation for sensory testing
Design and implement service agreements for application pilot studies
Train and Manage laboratory staff
Liaise with suppliers for sourcing of food ingredients
Provide guidance and give biannual performance appraisals to staff
Schedule and design daily/weekly workloads
Design laboratory set ups for food applications
Maintain a clean and organized lab that complies with all OSHA and other safety regulations
Design and implement project formulations that align with the needs of Project Leaders
Effectively translate project lead requests to physical samples accurately and efficiently
Manage and improve compound databases and inventories
Collaborate with project leaders to ensure project goals and workflows align
Manage multiple project set ups with different project teams and priorities
QUALIFICATIONS:
PhD in food science or related field, or MSc with minimum 10 years industrial experience
Proven ability to formulate and create a number of basic food applications
Demonstrates outstanding verbal and written communication skills and abilities
Strong management skills and excellent time management. |
