Job Description | Acroname produces tools to solve complex automation problems through innovation in manufacturing test automation, motion control, robotics research and distributed control systems. Our tools enable engineers to solve their problems without having to reinvent the lowest levels.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
join and be a significant contributing member of our engineering team
own consumer and industrial grade product electrical designs from cradle to grave
drive and participate in architectural design of new products
component and alternate selection for new and old designs
qualify selected components by SPICE simulation, breadboarding, proto-boarding, etc.
schematic capture
PCB layout
liaise with PCB and assembly partners
coordinate kits and builds with operations team
coordinate with internal and external mechanical engineers
advise and aide in debug of firmware
design production test strategies for products
KEY SKILLS:
extensive experience with schematic capture for low to medium complexity boards (10-500)
extensive experience with PCB layout of 2-6 layer boards
shipped more than one product to end-users
able to travel for business, including international travel (< 25%)
extremely self-driven, can own a full design, but also knows when to ask questions
sense of humor; we only do this because we want to
desire to make real products, not DIY hackery
deep understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals
difficult thermal designs are fun for you
extremely comfortable with lab test equipment
adept at soldering down to 0402 and other LQFP packages
KEY TRAITS:
BS or MS in any Engineering discipline
Other degrees acceptable with relevant work experience
5+ years experience in electrical hardware design and manufacturing
willingness to jump in an solve any problem

As a hardware engineer at Acroname, you'll join a small, quick moving team building products based on decades of experience; think of us as a very seasoned start up without the cash-flow problems. You get freedom to move things where you think they should go, while not having to start from nothing. Your weekly work will include bringing-up and validating designs and prototypes, supporting and advising firmware and software development, debugging manufacturing issues, and architecting, designing, engineering and shipping new electrical designs.
