Job Description | Summary of Position:
This position provides industrial engineering support for New Product Development initiatives within Covidien’s Surgical Devices Business.
Essential Functions:
Thorough understanding of Industrial Engineering concepts
Provide IE support to New Product Development as well as other Covidien manufacturing
facilities
Develop standard costs and financial learning curve targets for newly developed products
Collaborate with Tooling and Manufacturing Engineers to develop flexible manufacturing cell designs
Manufacturing Simulation modeling
Frequent (verbal and written) communications; able present to peers and management on deliverables status
Develops solutions to a variety of routine problems using computer and logic-based methods
Tasks to be completed with guidance, revisions and/or corrections from management
Department Specific/Non-Essential Functions:
Provide analyses for special projects, such as plant and product rationalizations
Green Belt Certification – Ongoing use of Six Sigma tools (Process map, C & E, FMEA’s, Risk Analysis, etc.)
Follow established guidelines and management direction with regard to engineering decisions and departmental/ company policy.
Minimum Requirements:
Must have a BS in Industrial Engineering
Minimum of 3 years work experience as an Industrial Engineer
Must be very strong at capacity modeling, time-studies, balance tables, and flexible work-cell development
Highly skilled with Excel, MS Project, and AutoCAD
Desired Skills/Qualifications:
Understanding of financial analysis
Standard cost development
Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Visio and Word
Working familiarity with Visual Basic (macros would be a plus)
Other Skills:
Six Sigma tools
Lean Manufacturing concepts
Strong written and verbal communications (including presentation skills) |
