General Job Description:
This position involves leading a small optical design, assembly and test group in developing optical assemblies for military and commercial markets. As lead optical engineer responsibilities will include the day to day direction of other optical engineers and optical designers, designing of complex optical assemblies in all wavebands and providing direction and oversight on the assembly and test of optical assemblies. In addition to leading the development of many complex optical assemblies the ideal candidate will possess leadership and mentoring skills for junior level optical engineers
Specific Job Requirements:
•Ability to perform optical design of complex optical assemblies in ZEMAX and CODE V and perform all aspects of optical design including tolerance analysis, performance modeling, stray light analysis etc.
•Experience in performing Optical System modeling using programs such as NVTHERM, SSCAM and Image Intensification system modeling. Knowledge of fusion modeling and analysis is a plus.
•Knowledge of all aspects of imaging systems including, optics and systems design
•Leadership and management of a small optical engineering team to include resource allocation, technical oversight, and engineering tool (design, analysis, reporting, etc.) management (5 years minimum).
•Interface with other engineering disciplines and work well in a team environment.
•Interface with customers and suppliers in technical areas relating to the project
Education / Experience:
•Bachelor of Science degree in Optics or equivalent with a minimum of 10 years experience in optical design and engineering of complex optical and electro-optical systems.
•Masters of Science degree in Optics is a plus
•Experience with the design of complex optical systems for head mounted and weapon mounted and Handheld equipment where weight and size are key performance parameters
•Experience designing optics for Manportable Night Vision and Thermal Imaging products

•Strong organizational, presentation and customer relationship skills are a must
•Solid verbal and written communication skills are a must.
•Must work well and thrive in a deadline driven, fast paced environment.
•Ability to follow-up & anticipate in advance of requests in dealing with a diverse group.
•Must be proactive & be creative in supporting daily challenges with a positive attitude
•Demonstrated leadership skills while having the ability to be a team player
Other Requirements:
•U.S. citizenship required.
•The ability to travel and interact with key users in the field and at Military Bases throughout the country is required
•Proficiency in MS Office Suite of programs, including MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, PowerPoint
•Travel required: some domestic and limited international
