Job Description

This is a key position within the Legal Department that provides support to Siemens Energy, Power Generation Division (former Oil & Gas business), on all legal matters arising in its operations headquartered in the United States.

The main areas of focus include:

- Claims management and litigation support
- Contract review and advice on applicable laws and risk mitigation strategies
- Knowledge of legal issues in the Energy Industry
- Coordination of legal advice with legal colleagues around the world
- Ability to work closely with management and contribute to the success of the business by providing practical legal and business advice

In this role, the attorney will be responsible for supporting the legal needs for the former Oil & Gas Business Units of the Power Generation Division operations in the United States (including the international business of this group.). The attorney will work closely with the Senior Legal Counsel and Contract Managers, and provide legal advice and approvals where required during contract negotiations. The attorney should have proven ability to draft and negotiate contracts with customers, suppliers and vendors. The position is based in Houston, Texas.

Responsibilities:

*Analyze, manage and resolve diverse matters with government agencies or commercial customers.
*Investigate, manage and resolve project and contract conflicts.
*Conduct legal research and writing; and provide ongoing legal support within territory.
*Review and provide legal advice relating to high profile contracts, subcontracts, bids, equipment agreements, sales transactions, project implementation issues, employment matters and general corporate matters.
*Manage outside counsel, and supervise arbitration and litigation proceedings (foreign and domestic).
*Develop risk mitigation and settlement strategies and negotiate and finalize settlement agreements where necessary.
*Develop and provide legal/compliance training to organization, and work with corporate executives to ensure adherence to corporate policies.

Qualifications:

*J.D. required and must be admitted/licensed to practice law in one or more states.
*5 to 8 years of legal experience in an engery/construction/contracts/transaction environment in a law firm or corporate in-house position required.
*Experience in commercial transactions and claims management or litigation of same.
*Excellent interpersonal communications skills (written and verbal) required.
*Negotiation abilities a must.
*Highly proficient technical skills in MS Office Suite.
*Team player who can also work independently and thrives in a fast paced environment.
*Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
*Fluent in Spanish, a plus.
