The Role
As an Associate Actuary, you will be responsible for supporting the product governance initiative. You will interact with many functional units within and outside Insurance Solutions, by providing a broad overview of the types of products we offer and how they affect our risk and profitability profile. You will serve as a key model review resource and would be expected to interface with product development, valuation team, Quality of New Business team, Product Positioning, and others as necessary to ensure models being developed are accurate and producing correct results
Responsibilities
Product Governance
· Closely work with pricing to monitor the product developmental cycle and ensure that the proper pricing assumptions are adopted for Universal Life, Variable Universal Life, Term, UL with LTC and other individual life product
· Perform review of statutory/GAAP income statement and pricing model, especially related to the reserve (Stat/Tax/GAAP) methodology to ensure the reserving methodology is consistent with how it will be implemented in Valuation
· Work with Product Model team to ensure any changes post rate launch are appropriately reviewed, and to assist in integrating good models to Quality of New Business team and Product Positioning team for budget review cases
· Review profit measurements to ensure it meets to the corporate standard · Assess any new risks were introduced by the new product
· Assist with or lead the pricing assumption development
Project Management
· Ensure product governance processes are compliant and continue working on establishing leading practices
· Serve as a consultant and provide review of new product implementation to valuation system
· Provides direction and support of key corporate initiative and projects as needed.
Communication
· Communicate with product teams, valuation, senior management, corporate actuarial and others on issues, assumptions and standards
Requirements
Education Undergraduate Degree or 4+ years of comparable work experience; educational concentration in Applied Science or Mathematics is preferred ASA designation is required FSA designation is preferred
Experience · 3-5+ years of experience in Actuarial positions that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities of the position
· Educational experience and/or proficiency in pricing of Life and/or Long Term Care products and valuation of Life and/or Long Term Care product
· Computer skills: ALFA, Triton, or similar valuation software systems
· A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
· Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions
· Drives performance targets to completion
