Job Description | DEFINITION:
The Equity Engineering Group, Inc. (E2G) is a Northeast Ohio Engineering Consulting Company, internationally recognized in the refining and petrochemical industries as the leader on aging infrastructure (fixed equipment) service and support. E2G has pioneered the development of advanced Fitness-For-Service (FFS) and Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) technologies. E2G has an immediate need for a Materials/Corrosion Engineer. This position is located at E2G Headquarters in Shaker Heights, Ohio or the Houston, Texas office and reports to the Materials/Corrosion Section Head.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Provide demonstrated knowledge and expertise in corrosion and damage mechanisms in the Refining & Chemical Process Industries
· Perform damage mechanisms reviews on RBI projects and participate as a materials expert on the RBI team; develop inspection plans using RBI
· Perform piping systemization and circuitization at the P&ID level
· Mobilize on short notice to assist with onsite fire damage assessment
· Develop Operating Envelopes / Integrity Operating Windows (IOW) for process units
· Support/Perform materials lab work relating to failure analysis or remaining life assessment
· Serve as liaison between customer and the FFS group in Cleveland to assist with the acquisition of field inspection data (i.e. shear wave data, thickness readings,) on FFS projects
· Support plant turnarounds and failure analysis investigations at client’s facilities by providing on–site troubleshooting and technical support for shutdowns
· Assist in the development and presentation of training courses
· Attend and participate at industry conferences and meetings
· Support development of materials or corrosion standard work practices
· Serve as the materials specialist on Mechanical Integrity audit teams
· Mentor less experienced materials engineering personnel within E2G
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· A BS Degree in Materials Engineering or related field
· A minimum of 7 years of applicable experience in a refinery
· Experience in the fields of materials selection, failure analysis, corrosion control, corrosion reviews and material operating envelopes, fixed equipment welding
· Ability to obtain a professional engineering license within three years
· Experience in the role of reliability, maintenance, inspection or fixed equipment engineer within a plant environment
· Legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; possession of a
valid state driver's license and insurable driving records; possession of an active U.S. Passport
· Ability to pass required client workplace drug and alcohol screening test.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Availability to travel up to 60% of time for both short and mid-term assignments including international travel to South America and the Middle East
· Thorough knowledge of standard inspection and NDE processes and techniques
· Design, fabrication and repair of piping & process equipment
· Assessment & repair of damaged equipment
· Ability to make effective presentations
· Excellent analysis and problem solving skills, coupled with a proven ability to multi-task
· Knowledgeable in the areas of ASME and NACE and API Codes and Standards related to the design, inspection, maintenance and evaluation of fixed equipment
· Interface with clients at all levels, (i.e. engineers, managers, operators)
