Position Summary:
· Maintain knowledge of multi-peril deadlines for fund designation, accounting cut-off, sales closing, production reporting and acreage reporting deadlines as well as any other deadlines that may occur, as determined by Risk Management Agency (RMA) guidelines.
· Know what reference materials are available, where to locate them and how to use them when researching questions and/or problems. Research material includes, but is not limited to industry websites (RMA, National Crop Insurance Services (NCIS), etc.), bulletins, handbooks, etc.
· Ability to complete special assignments by specific deadlines while continuing to complete other assigned duties timely. Special assignments may include writing processing procedures, preparing handouts for agency update meetings, writing form letters for mailings, point of contact for FCIC errors, point of contact for transfers-in and any other assignments as assigned by upper management.
· Promptly fixes errors appearing on the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC) error list as well as those identified by Policy Analyst.
Job Responsibilities:
· Maintain acceptable policy count/premium volume while taking on other duties as necessary. Acceptable level would be a minimum of 1500 policies or $12,000,000 in premium volume.
· Responsible for maintaining basic knowledge of all crops/plans in assigned states/areas.
· Works to become familiar with any new crops or programs that are added to the Underwriter’s assigned area.
· Reliable source for specialty crops and/or plans that are common in the Underwriter’s assigned area.
· Understands importance of and implements quality documentation of audited paperwork, including but not limited to date and initials on paperwork, phone calls, memos to agents, etc.
· Ability to know what revisions need authorization from upper management and what ones Underwriter can authorize on their own.
· Stay current on processing, mailing and filing for assigned agencies.
· When current on own processing, take initiative to locate work and offer assistance to others.
· Keep policy files organized and updated per processing procedures.
· Be proficient with current internal processing system.
· Know how to run and utilize different reports in current processing system and be able to assist agents and Sales Staff in running them as well. Reports include but are not limited to Missing APH, Missing Acreage Report, premium reports, error list and policy status reports.
· Ability to identify problems with internal processing system and report them through proper chain of command. Follow up on reported errors or problem to make sure a resolution is reached.
· Communicate with National Underwriting Manager and/or Sales Staff on any issues or problems with assigned agencies.
Job Requirements:
•Minimum of 3 years of crop insurance experience
· Maintains an effective communication channel between internal and external customers.
· Acknowledge business related communication by acting upon them in a timely manner.
· Must be willing to travel when necessary to attend internal and external training, including but not limited to Agency Update Meetings, internal processing system training and any other agency training as necessary. This will include travel by air and car.
· Actively participates and promotes professionalism at all times when representing the company whether on business trips, engaging in company activities or while wearing company clothing.
· Exhibit great organizational and time management skills and must be able to work independently.
· Be able to work extended hours during peak processing, if necessary, with prior notification to National Underwriting Manager.
· Microsoft Office experience
· Must be Team Player
· Bending, kneeling, stooping, lifting up to 25 pounds
