Argo Group US currently has a challenging opportunity for an Underwriter, located in Jersey City, New Jersey. The primary purpose of this position is to actively participate in the underwriting, marketing and processing of the management liability lines of business.
This is a professional level position which is part of Argo Pro Management Liability.
Participate in the achievement of monthly and annual profitability and production goals and objectives for the Management Liability Group
Underwrite and analyze new business (and renewals, when applicable) submissions, primarily supporting the Private Company and Not for Profit segment. Products include D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, Crime and Fidelity and Professional E&O on both a primary and excess basis.
Take accounts through the new business and renewal process including but not limited to quote, bind and issue.
Participate in the marketing and communication of our products and services to our retail and wholesale brokers.
Develop broker relations as well as establish new relationships to attract business opportunities.
Participate in client and broker meetings, as required.
Develop understanding of the competitive marketplace. Become aware and informed of the evolving economic and insurance marketplace to form basis of understanding of underwriting trends, legal developments and concerns.
Special projects and assignments as requested.
Minimum 2-3 years underwriting experience in management or professional lines
Strong computer skills. Proficient in Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Excellent organization skills, very strong analytical, oral and written communication skills required.
The ability to meet tight deadlines is essential.
Strong customer service and teamwork skills and a professional attitude needed.
Must be able to quickly evaluate the accuracy of data and information.
Ability to interact and communicate with various levels of the organization to cross sell or address processing requirements.
Ability to work independently with guidance and procedures provided.
