Manager, Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

Charles Industries, Ltd., a privately held vertically integrated manufacturer of Outside Plant Metallic & non-Metallic Enclosures and Access & Transmission products for the Telecommunications Industry. Due to a pending retirement, we are currently seeking a Manager, Manufacturing Engineering. Reporting to the Vice-President-Manufacturing, this individual will be located at our Marshall, Illinois production facility, approximately twenty miles from Terra Haute, Indiana.

The position of Manager, Manufacturing Engineering is critical to planning, directing and implementing the strategic direction for all of our manufacturing operations and provides manufacturing engineering support to multiple facilities across multiple product lines. This individual will be the resident expert advising Plant Management and Corporate Staff in all areas of manufacturing processes including manufacturing methods improvement, workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design of equipment for maximum efficiency. He/she will also work closely with senior management, product management, product engineering and other staff functions regarding manufacturing capabilities, determining capital equipment and tooling requirements, preparation of capital expenditure requests, meeting with equipment suppliers to determine production specifications, and management of project implementations.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering. He/she will have a minimum of ten (10) years of increasing managerial responsibility in a related manufacturing environment. There is a strong preference for Metal Enclosure Fabrication and Assembly experience, with powder coating, plastic and electronic assembly experience a significant plus. The selected candidate must possess demonstrated skills in lean manufacturing techniques, Kaizen practices, and process/cost improvement. Travel to our various manufacturing sites is expected to average 50% with travel spikes to 80% periodically.
