(REVISED) Electronics Assembly – Manufacturing Automation Engineer
MetroSpec Technology, located in Mendota Heights, has an excellent opportunity for a manufacturing automation engineer with a minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in electronic production automation - preferably as it applies to populated printed circuit board production. POSITION SUMMARY:
The candidate will develop and implement new fixtures, processes and equipment to improve production efficiencies and support manufacturing and company growth objectives. The engineer will use proven problem solving methodologies to provide technical support to manufacturing needs. He or she will also interact with production management and business development personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible. This position establishes equipment specifications, improves manufacturing techniques and production yields. MetroSpec is a small, but rapidly growing manufacturer of LED light sources. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identify automation, tooling, and handling improvement opportunities
Define requirements and specifications for equipment
Design tools, fixtures, and equipment
Specify, evaluate, select, and implement new equipment
Optimize equipment performance for efficiency and capacity
Lead or assist on manufacturing process development
Specify and execute installation, operation, and production qualification plans
Assess, specify and deploy process control procedures
REQUIREMENTS:
B.S. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
2 to 5 years experience in electronics manufacturing (SMT a must)
Knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes
Experience in automated equipment implementation and support
Control systems, motion control, machine programming, or vision systems experience
Strong computer skills (Windows)
Project management experience
Ability to develop and present proposals to peers and management
Experience with design of experiments
Problem solving skills and understanding of problem solving methodologies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to identify equipment / automation solutions
Ability to contribute to manufacturing strategy
ADDITIONAL PLUSES:
Knowledge of IPC-610 specs
SolidWorks or equivalent CAD design experience
Quality focus (i.e. Quality Management Systems, ISO-9001, etc..)
Operation requirements and specifications experience
Qualification procedures experience
Integrate Manufacturing Execution System (MES) with manufacturing equipment
