In this highly visible role, the Senior Manager, Manufacturing Automation will be responsible for crafting the strategy and implementation of high speed Factory / Mfg Automation processes in a high volume environment for OYO Sportstoys.
You will enjoy key decision making in conjunction with hands-on problem solving and analysis on-site. You will lead the delivery of automation solutions, drive development and implementation of high precision Factory / Mfg Automation processes in a high volume environment consumer driven product environment.
Purpose:
•Take the leadership role in the planning, specification, development and execution of production automation solutions to meet OYO’s growth strategy.
•Provide technical guidance in the definition of flexible and scalable automation solutions.
•Develop tools and methods to facilitate automation efforts.
•Interface with internal and external 3rd party development teams to provide site-specific automation needs.
Principal Accountabilities/Duties: •Analyze all aspects of OYO’s manufacturing process and determine need for automation based on present and future technical needs, and financial payback, including make/buy decisions.
•Build and lead an internal engineering development team to support growth.
•Work closely with Senior Executives of OYO in strategic and tactical plans for additional manufacturing facilities.
•Create documents for project phases: SOW, test plans, buy-off, and acceptance.
•Lead the design, deployment and support of Factory Automation Systems delivering factory hardware and software automation solutions, including robots as appropriate.
•Coordinate design of subsystems and integration of total automation system for specific processes.
•Collaborate with various automation experts to deliver innovative automation solutions to OYO.
•Work with automation suppliers to develop best in class automation solutions for OYO.
•Support of all phases of Project Life Cycles for all of OYO’s automation requirements.
•Take leadership in communication with all project stakeholders during the entire project from concept to feasibility and from fabrication and test to production.
•Support continuous improvement of existing automation systems.
•Support customer automation needs at New Product Introduction and Product transfer.
Key Qualifications: •A working understanding of high volume, flexible manufacturing systems with complex product configurations is a must.
•Must have led or managed the build-out of an automated production line.
•Must have direct functional understanding of various aspects of automation and robotics field including relevant hardware and software automation experience, with prior work experience in the creating of machine design, integration or support.
•Must be capable of forging relationships across groups and have the ability to negotiate and distill requirements down to their architectural elements.
•LEAN manufacturing experience.
•Deep understanding of ERP and MES systems.
•Experience in consumer related products a Plus.
Essential Job Functions: •Evaluate existing factory processes and identify opportunities for savings and improvement through the use of automation technology.
•Work with internal and external stakeholders to assess and define requirements for automation of high volume consumer product assembly, packaging and fulfillment
•Work with internal and external partners on the design and deployment of complex factory automation systems. Manage detailed requirements definition, review and approve system designs and oversee implementation.
•Work with production teams and vendors to scale and maintain factory automation systems across multiple factories
•Partner with Product Design to identify applications for increased use of automation technologies on upcoming products, at the same time driving DFA requirements and guidelines back into product design.
Education: •MS/BS in Mechanical Engineering
Additional Requirements: •Typically requires 10+ years of experience supporting new product launches and new automation processes within manufacturing operations. Must be experienced at identifying opportunities for savings and improvement through the use of line optimization and automation.
• Must have intimate knowledge of the automation industry.
•Engineering management experience is required. |
