We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to optimize equipment reliability and process capability for our ISO certified nylon fiber production facility in Greenwood, SC. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will monitor day to day equipment performance in your assigned area and work on equipment improvements that affect production throughput and quality.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will oversee and strategize improvements for the production equipment in your area, which will include high-speed nylon spinning machines and Solid State Polymerizer (SSP) equipment. You will need to learn your area’s entire production process in detail so that you can assess and design reliability improvements in the context of the entire process as a whole, rather than just in the context of each individual piece of equipment.
Your specific duties as a Manufacturing Engineer will include:
Monitoring production processes on a daily basis to ensure mechanical and electrical reliability
Developing strategies for cost, production rate and yield improvements
Troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis on decreases in production line performance
Conferring and coordinating with equipment operators, floor technicians, area supervisors and other engineers
Monitoring and tracking production process on a daily basis using data historian software
Utilizing statistical tools to improve process capability
Ensuring that all production equipment operates in compliance with company and regulatory agency safety requirements
Required Skills
The Manufacturing Engineer is a hands-on position in which you will spend most of your time on the shop floor and develop detailed familiarity with every piece of equipment in your area. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you must display superior technical expertise and innovative analytic and problem-solving skills. At the same time, you must also have the excellent interpersonal skills necessary to develop rapport with all levels of our company’s staff, particularly with those who do not have an engineering background. It is vital to your role as a
Manufacturing Engineer that you are able to read and analyze all types of engineering data (including numeric data) and then translate that analysis into terms that non-engineers can readily understand.
Required Experience
Specific qualifications for the Manufacturing Engineer position include:
Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
3-5 years experience as a chemical or mechanical engineer
Solid statistical training and thorough understanding of how to drive improvements in the manufacturing process
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Industrial nylon spinning experience is a plus
