Our turbo technologies unit has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer-Machining located in Ladson, South Carolina.

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for all production processes to have them capable and available to meet customer expectations in safety, quality and delivery. These activities include capacity assurance, process capability, process design, fail-safing methods, and operations support as required.This position will place an emphasis on machining operations.

Key Responsibilities
Ensure capacity is available to meet current and future customer requirements
Ensure line readiness for new product & existing product changes (ECC / VPI / VPC)
Increase throughput (fewer/faster/safer/more reliable processes)
Cost reduction (scrap, indirect materials, fewer/faster/safer/more reliable processes)
Improvement - internal quality (scrap, process capability); external quality (BIS, AIS, warranty)
Mistake proofing/Poke Yoke

Primary Tools Used
Structured Problem Solving Techniques – 5 Why’s / A3 / 7-Step / Cause & Effect
Capacity documentation and planning through time studies and capacity models
Layout for efficient synchronous product flow
Effective data management via tracking, interpreting, and prioritizing issues affecting cost, quality, delivery, capacity, and throughput (bottlenecks, scrap drivers, capability management, indirect cost, OEE, etc.)
AutoCAD for tooling and fixture design.

The Manufacturing Engineer is an active member of various product support teams. These include new product process development and introduction, continuous improvement, and team based work system development and advancement. This position must interface and function with all levels of the organization to successfully meet the aggressive needs of the business and customer both today and in the future.

Skills-Funcitonal/Technical
Knowledge of machining processes (ex: grinding, turning, drilling, heat treating, welding, and component balance)
Technical Drawing interpretation
Lean manufacturing principles and practices
Knowledge and experience in design and troubleshooting of mechanical systems, including motors, pneumatics, hydraulics.
Ability to develop process procedures and work instructions
Experience in capital project management and machine acceptance run-off
Safety - Ergonomics / JSA / Risk Assessments

Skills-Functional
Data driven/analytical skills
Project Management
Must be hands on and have the ability to troubleshoot problems aggressively using all resources available

Skills-Quality / Improvement
Familiarization and application of QS 9000/TS16949 business guidelines
Fundamental print reading and Measurement System
Lead and support FMEAs and prevention based planning tools
Six Sigma
Lead and support resolution of internal and external CARs/PARs.

Skills-Teamwork
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work cross functionally with all levels of the organization
Coordinate and work with other functions both internal and external to the organization
Ability to lead others in a fast paced manufacturing environment

Standards
BSME or equivalent and 5 yrs applied experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong application and use of the PC and business software

Travel: 5%
