Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description
Primary Duties :

Provides guidance in manufacturing processes. Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods using knowledge of the organizations processes. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs. Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements.


Essential Functions:

o Execute a manufacturing engineering strategy to achieve the best quality, costs, and lead times.

o Maintain current set up sheets for all standard jobs.

o Establish routings and standards for new parts or modified engineered parts.

o Plan and executes tooling and fixture requirements for the machine shop.

o Participate in the justification for capitol equipment expenditures.

o Provide training, and corrective action to assure that the manufacturing engineering department
meets the standards for quality and target manufacturing objectives.

o Monitor daily production activities. Check for accuracy and performance requirements.

o Implementation of lean process's.

o Responsible for continuing cost savings efforts on manufacturing processes.

o Participate in continuing education.


Job Requirements, Experience, Skills, Education, Knowledge and Success Factors

Education:

Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Engineering & 5 years of related manufacturing experience

Experience:

Required: 1-3 years prior experience as a manufacturing engineer.

Preferred: 5 years as a manufacturing engineering for a pump manufacturer.


Special Skills:

Required:

o Working Knowledge of C.N.C. programming / editing.

o Working knowledge of machining fundamentals.

o Demonstrated ability to establish and execute manufacturing processes.

o Knowledgeable of ERP & MRP systems. SAP preferred.

o Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to work closely and interface with both internal and external personnel.

o Strong P.C. skills, efficient in the use of Word and Excel.

o Experienced in Lean Manufacturing Techniques.

o The individual must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be willing to work in a cooperative team environment.


o Working Conditions:

o The normal hours of work are Monday thru Friday 7:00 AM to 3:45 PM.

o Daily and weekend overtime are required as needed.

o This is a manufacturing environment, safety glasses and leather hard soled shoes are required at all times. Specific situations may require the use of respirators, dust masks, hard hats and safety harness's.

o Mobility is key, the ability to withstand 6-8 hours per day on the shop floor, mobility from work center to work center is required.

o Some travel is required for this position.
