| Job Description | Essential Functions:
Effectively develop and prepare process routing
Utilize most optimum resources available on the shop floor.
Utilize optimum outside resources for material and services.
Prepare operation drawings operators clear instructions for major operations such as lathe and if required for machining center and grinding.
Prepare control plan (QA Docs) from the routing for setup and in-process paperwork for all or most manufacturing operations as necessary.
Process external as well as internal ECN’s
Tooling
Design all work holding tooling and gaging as necessary to fabricate part complete.
Control tooling purchases and utilize available tooling as much possible.
Look out for latest tooling technology and make recommendations and justifications.
Shop floor support
Work with shop supervisor, setup people and operators to assure machines running smooth and troubleshoot as necessary.
Work with setup people on new part to assure parts are setup the way it is planned.
Work with OEM for training in the event of new equipment purchase.
Quality Support
Support QA as necessary.
Help operators on floor as necessary for inspection technique.
Provide rework instructions as necessary for discrepant parts.
Contributes to the overall effectiveness of the company by:
Channeling problems and/or complaints to appropriate person for resolution.
Supporting all Schafer policies and procedures.
Passing along vital information to the Supervisor for effectiveness of the system.
Training new personnel as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Requires some physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position.
Demonstrates the verbal and written communication skills.
Computer literate with such programs as MS Office, Solidworks, and Gibbscam.
Degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering OR Tool & Die background (Journeyman’s Card).
Minimum 5 years of experience in similar position within metalworking industry with CNC Mill and Lathe. |
