Manufacturing Engineer Manager

Job Description
Job Summary:

Under general direction, provides manufacturing engineering support for Manufacturing and other departments as needed. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, providing systems and support for manufacturing planning, work load, scheduling, work flow improvement, materials requirements, shop floor control, data acquisition and review, training, engineering change notice (ECN) implementation, and other related duties.



Essential Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the transition of new products from design engineering into manufacturing.

2. Generate engineering actions request/engineering deviation notices (EAR/EDN) as required to support manufacturing.

3. Assists manufacturing with the identification of training requirements and participates in the training as required.

4. Provides manufacturing engineering support to manufacturing and other departments as required.

5. Identifies test equipment, fixtures and new tool requirements for manufacturing. Prepares and evaluates cost justifications to implement new requirements into manufacturing.

6. Prepares and reviews work instructions and bill of materials (BOMs) to assure logical activity sequencing for optimum output.

7. Implements and maintains shop floor control and manufacturing planning using the enterprise resource planning (ERP) System

8. Manages the technical support from all departments to research and resolve manufacturing problems.

9. Investigates and recommends new processes to improve the manufacturing efficiency, quality and on-time-delivery of shipments to customers

10. Performs other duties as assigned



Supervisory Responsibilities:

Electronics Technicians and Machine Shop personnel.


Education: BS in Manufacturing engineering, or a related engineering degree,

Work Experience: Minimum 5 years related hands on experience in a manufacturing engineering role or design engineering with direct manufacturing support role.

Skills: Good oral and written communication skills. Highly proficient in computer skills including
Microsoft Office programs and experience in researching technical information on the Internet. Have a good understanding of MRP systems.

Capabilities: Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build good working relationships with individuals and teams. High level of analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks. High level of organizational skills.



Environmental and Physical Conditions:

1. Indoor in a light electro-optical-mechanical assembly environment. Minimal exposure to noise, dusts, and fumes.

2. Frequent computer use at desk.

3. Generally works at fast pace with attention to details required.
