Job Summary:
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team to work on the manufacturing line at our office located in Bedford, MA. The role involves practical hands experience with manufacturing photonic devices, and assembly and test processes for optical and microelectronic devices.
Job Description
Work with Operations, Quality, and the Process and Design Engineers to optimize manufacturing methods, documents, flows, layouts, and tools in order to reduce costs and increase yields
Develop manufacturing documentation in concert with design and process engineering groups
Perform capacity and capability studies
Determine optimal equipment and office layouts compatible with clean room environment
Work to shorten cycle time, increase yields, reduce scrap, and reduce costs
Investigate low yield and poor quality situations
Work with process and design engineering to develop manufacturing fixture and tools that simplify manufacturing processes
Work with suppliers to improve the quality of raw materials
Perform corrective and preventive action studies
Perform process FMEAs
Perform gage R&R studies
Working with production and design engineering, create process work instructions
Justify, plan, and manage the implementation of new capital equipment
Stay up to date on industry practices
Other duties as assigned
Skills Required
Experience with manufacturing active fiber optic devices including lasers, detectors
Experience with handling and processing fiber optics
Previous experience with New Product Introduction into manufacturing
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
Ability to make decisions and take responsibility for their outcomes
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Education
Bachelor?s Degree in engineering, physics, or equivalent fields or 8 years relevant industry experience
US Citizen or Green Card Holder required. |
