Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for ensuring that we successfully document, procure and manufacture our products/services within specification, on-time, and at targeted costs. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing processes and systems that ensure a safe work environment, maximize profitable growth, drive quality improvements, as well as reduce operating costs, inventories and lead times through continuous improvements.

The Manufacturing Engineer must demonstrate knowledge and expertise in UL508A, lean and six-sigma manufacturing principles and state-of-the-art manufacturing technology. The position requires excellent focus, high energy and enthusiasm, forward thinking, strong analytical capability, excellent problem solving, the ability to manage change, solid execution and a commitment to help the company meet financial objectives and exceed customer expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Ownership of our manufacturing engineering processes including specification development, manufacturing documentation, bill-of-materials, work instructions, assembly drawings, special requirements reviews
•Developing and maintaining design engineering contacts at our customers and third parties to ensure that we are manufacturing products that meet and exceed customer expectations.
•Managing MTA’s quotation process for value added solutions including creating bill-of-materials, procurement/vendor strategies, costing and quotations.
•Upon contract award lead the customer kick-off meeting, load customer specifications, create routers, and create assembly build files to assure successful production.
•Review first articles as well as periodically inspect products to insure that all products are being manufactured to the customer’s specification
•Responsible for developing and implementing lean and long term manufacturing strategies to drive continuous improvement.
•Meets with the manufacturing teams regularly, reflecting on problems, solutions, and challenges, thereby creating a culture of continuous improvement and contributing towards becoming a learning organization.
•Creates the basis for continuous improvement and employee empowerment by ensuring that standardized work/processes are followed, countermeasures implemented and the area is compliant with safety requirements.
•Works with the other members of the plant staff to develop the future state value stream maps and manages the plans to achieve it.
•Responsible for the product quality control for the manufacturing operation.
•Attends scheduled corporate training and meetings.
•Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
•Management of plant operations requiring significant manufacturing knowledge as well as advanced interpersonal and supervisory skills.
•Five to Seven years of manufacturing engineering experience in an UL 508A approved assembly operation which includes supervisory responsibility.
•Experience with fiscal activities such as staffing levels, budgets, and financial goals.
•Proven record of successful career progression.
•Proven track record of driving results and continuous improvement in an organization
•Experience in developing high-performance teams
•Practical knowledge of leading edge lean/six sigma strategies
•Minimum 4 year undergraduate degree preferred
•Strong problem solving and analytical skills
•Ability to deal with and manage multiple projects
•Proven ability to lead and develop people
