Job Description | Summary: Conduct all activities related to manufacturing engineering and documentation to ensure the maximization of quality, cost effectiveness and on-time delivery by performing the following duties either personally or through subordinates.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilize data to analyze and optimize molding performance related to cost, quality, lead time and on-time delivery
Impart manufacturing excellence through the extensive use of operational measurements and goals.
Troubleshoot non-molding related manufacturing problems using established problem
solving techniques and mentor/develop subordinates to do the same.
Resolve problems on a timely basis or when appropriate, make problems visible to upper management for resolution.
Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow processes for new product introduction.
Collect and record data as required.
Ensure that manufacturing documentation is correct and that changes are made and distributed on a timely basis.
Provide continuous improvement initiative and leadership for areas of responsibility.
Train manufacturing operators, supervisors on any new or revised processes or procedures effecting manufacturing.
Write and/or approve Engineering Change Specifications that effect manufacturing processes.
Manage Manufacturing Engineering and ensure data integrity for information put into the computer system.
Effectively support all quality management system initiatives and new product initiatives.
Audit and address any safety concerns for the manufacturing area.
Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience- Bachelor degree with a minimum of 7 years of experience involving manufacturing engineering including a minimum of 3 years of experience managing subordinates.
Certificates/Licenses- None required
Language Skills- Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as reports, correspondence, multi-level instructions, procedures and requirements and the ability to converse in a way that allows effective transfer of facts, concepts and other information related to the position.
Math Skills- Must possess mathematical skills required to perform all math calculations and understand all math concepts as they relate to the specific job which may include (as required) algebra and geometry, statistics, accounting and financial calculations, etc.
Reasoning Skills- Ability to understand limited cause and affect, create instructions, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of complex variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be capable of critical thinking.
Computer Skills- Moderately high skill level working with word processing, spreadsheets, etc. such as MS Office Suite software, ERP software utilizing MRP, multiple data bases and use of the internet.
Supervisory Skills- Assigns and monitors work that has some degree of variability. Able to deal with low-level and moderate employee issues but requires supervisory assistance when dealing with complex employee issues. Inspires and motivates others to perform well. Takes responsibility for subordinates' activities and fosters a focus on quality.
Supervision Received- Plans and arranges a significant portion of own work against defined objectives.
Environment and Physical Demands:
Environment- Work is primarily performed in a light manufacturing environment. Noise level is low to moderate.
Physical Demands- Regularly required to talk and hear; sit; use hands to handle, feel, write and use a keyboard, reach with hands and arms. No lifting required. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. |
