Manufacturing/Heat Treat Engineer

Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION: The manufacturing engineer is responsible for project management as required from cradle to grave. In addition, this position is responsible for providing daily support of an assigned area including tooling, CNC programming, quality, and process optimization.

Project management from conception through production release.

Provide turn key solutions for manufacturing improvements, including capital justification, equipment selection, tooling & programming, documentation, and training.

Provide technical assistance to support production requirements. Work closely with machine operators, process and maintenance technicians, and process engineers to resolve technical issues.

Serve as an agent of change to continuously challenge and improve existing manufacturing methods. Rapidly implement both incremental and breakthrough improvements to reduce costs, improve quality, and reduce process time.

Work within a team environment to support lean manufacturing activities. Maintain an active role in kaizen events based on TPS, TPM, and 6 Sigma methodologies.

Typically does not have any direct reports.

EDUCATION: BS degree Mechanical Engineering or related.

EXPERIENCE:

Strong root-cause analysis/technical approach for solving manufacturing problems.

Demonstrated mechanical design skills in work holding and machinery retrofit.

Solid computer skills (Excel, Word, Access).

Basic CNC programming/PLC ladder logic knowledge.

Understanding of SPC.

Strong interpersonal skills; team player.

Solid verbal and written communication skills.
