Job Description
Position Summary:
Position is responsible for planning and controlling the manufacturing process within designated department(s). Responsible for monitoring and scheduling of staff and work operations in the department in a safe, quality oriented, and efficient manner. Also responsible for employment decisions, reviews, and overall development of department associates.
Organizational Relationship:
This position will report to the Senior Manufacturing Manager.
Accountabilities:
Evaluate manufacturing process and gives direction as needed. Ensure processes follow Safe, Quality, Manufacturing Practices and Procedures.
Review product specifications and process. Inspect product to verify conformance to specifications.
Study production schedules and estimate employee hour requirements. Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of production department or work crew.
Evaluate needs and requirements for new products or processes.
Maintain time and production records.
Initiate or suggest plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
Interpret and enforce company policies, rules, union contract, and safety regulations and quality methods to supervisors and bargaining unit employees.
Analyze and resolve work related issues/problems/complaints, and/or assist production supervisors in solving work related issues/problems/complaints.
Confer with supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:
Minimum of three years experience in a manufacturing and/or wood furniture environment with demonstrated team participation and/or leadership and related continuous improvement successes.
A sound working knowledge of lean principles.
Strong analytical, problem solving, delegation and conflict resolution skills.
Must be adaptable to change and have the ability/desire to make a difference.
Ability to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the successful performance of all assigned responsibilities.
Education:
BS degree in manufacturing/operations management.
