Job Description
Moeller Manufacturing Company, Inc., Aircraft Division is a manufacturing facility specializing in machined parts for the gas turbine aircraft engine and power generation industries. The primary facility located in Wixom, Michigan is responsible for all customer support including design, engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and customer shipments.

Manufacturing Engineer Job Purpose: Develops and improves turbine engine component machining and assembly processes by studying existing product and manufacturing methods. A primary function of the position requires experience in process planning for large (24""+) turning of aerospace materials.

Manufacturing Engineer Job Duties:

- Evaluates existing manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication/machining, assembly, tooling, and raw materials.

- Develops new manufacturing processes and associated shop floor documentation by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.

- Assists in troubleshooting problems on the shop floor utilizing knowledge and experience in CNC programming, machine/fixture design and appropriate cutting tool applications.

- Provides manufacturing decision-making information to both internal and external customers by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules and estimating future requirements.

- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with applicable government and customer regulations and specifications.

- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Qualifications

- BS degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering / related discipline or associates degree with an additional 2 years of directly related experience.

- 5 years minimum experience in a low volume/high mix CNC machining environment.

- Hands on knowledge and experience dealing with exotic materials (Inconel, titanium, stainless steel) and associated machining processes (milling, turning, grinding, EDM).

- Familiarity with aerospace industry special processes / raw materials and associated technical specifications desired but not required.

- In depth knowledge of 3D CAD software (Solidworks, etc?) and MRP systems (Symix, etc?)

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Strong general computer knowledge including Microsoft Office products, etc.
