JOB DESCRIPTION
MANUFACTURING QUALITY ENGINEER
Purpose: Manufacturing and Quality Engineer will support operations on all areas of the production process from start to finish, including overseeing goods in and packaged to dispatch.
This is a combined role wherein the person(s) appointed to have ‘cradle to grave’ responsibility for specific product group(s) and will become the specialist for their product area(s), with an in-depth understanding of the full process.
Scope: The Manufacturing Quality Engineer will build expertise and ownership that can then be translated into ‘right first time’, builds. With productivity gains and process improvement established as part of their KPIs. This role will create true product champions who are able to speak with authority and knowledge about their product group(s) and form part of a world class team, who are able to stand with customers and discuss the performance, application and general quality of their product.
Main Responsibilities
•Supplier Quality – Responsibility and accountability with the appropriate authority to correct errors in any of the suppliers who are providing components to the production facilities. Taking responsibility to eradicate the requirement to inspect or modify any commodity for use. Issue Quality Concerns Reports (QCR) and Supplier Corrective Action Requests ( SCAR). Report status of QCRs & SCARs as required.
•Product Test and Debug – Develop expertise in customer test methods, procedures, and test scripts. Creation, control debug process flows for tests.
•Material Picking /Delivery – Review the process to ensure accurate, effective with full control and damage free. Create recommendations and ensure corrective actions are adhered to.
•Production Process Improvement – Constant review and improvement to ensure effective and efficient process re-engineering, training, piece-part flow etc. Recommend, innovate and implement revised manufacturing methods and processes utilizing Lean.
•Line Balancing – Optimize elemental tasks to build in inspection, error proofing, and operator fatigue.
•Workstation & Tooling– Implement 5S and JIT to reduce cost, and improve process flow, develop team ownership environments; rationalization consistence of process between shifts. Minimize handling labor and improve production line presentation.
•Training Needs Identification – Identify weaknesses in any part of your process. Create a shared approach with supervision to leverage best results.
•Communication – Ensure all appropriate process changes, issues, trends are communicated to customer and sister plants. The Manufacturing Quality Engineer is responsible for weekly quality presentations, and reports. Attend and facilitate supplier meetings as required.
Requirements:
•BA degree or higher required
•Advanced Computer skills required
•Quality or Manufacturing Engineering experience
•Superior Verbal and Written Communication skills required
•Electronics Manufacturing a plus. |
