XL Insurance is growing the Marine Business Unit both geographically and expanding the range of products available in the market place. As such, we are looking to attract talented individuals across the industry to join this strong and growing team. We are currently looking for qualified underwriting candidates with a wide range of experience (must have a minimum of 3 years Underwriting experience).
The key responsibilities / accountabilities of the role:
o Accountable for soliciting and underwriting risks in support of the successful execution of territorial strategic operating and marketing plans and to deliver positive financial performance
o Oversight of proper risk selection, mix of business management, pricing strategies, adherence to underwriting guidelines, quality analysis for Ocean and Inland Marine.
o Responsible for managing assigned agent/broker relationships.
o Provide necessary underwriting and tactical support to peer underwriters and less experienced colleagues.
o Collaborate with other business units to advance the enterprise and reputation of the marine unit within the enterprise
o Assist the marine manager as necessary on project work to expand the appetite and product offerings of the marine unit
Qualifications
o Bachelors Degree and minimum 3 years marine insurance underwriting experience
o Professional designations, certificates, or other insurance classes are highly desired
o Recognized expert and specialization in the marine insurance industry
o Business development leader with a successful track record driving profitable growth
