Job Description | ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES
The Engineering Mechanical Designer is responsible for creating detailed part and assembly drawings including all relevant dimensions, tolerances, surface finishes, etc... In addition, there will be responsibility for capturing engineering details and generating related documentation necessary to manufacture and support the products. Duties are performed with minimum technical supervision and involve consideration, latitude, and discretion in developing work techniques and methods.
Creates 3-D models, depicts relationship of component and parts; identifies dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances and materials.
Works with the engineering team to create designs from written and verbal input.
Completes detailed designs by interpreting general designs prepared by others.
Drafts and prepares detail drawings of complex, original designs working with engineers and other designers.
Ensures that manufacturing, assembly, installation, and operational requirements will be provided by the drawings and associated documentation produced.
Creates Bills of Materials (BOMs) and maintains product data integrity by uploading all files into the Product Data Management (PDM) system and verifying accuracy.
Produces high quality drawings and documentation that meet industry standards and company requirements.
Performs routine engineering calculations including stress analysis, fit analysis and tolerance stack-ups.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have mechanical products design experience using solid parametric modeling applications.
Must have experience creating detailed drawings and assembly drawings including proficiency in the application of ASME Y14 standards for manufacturing drawings.
Must have experience with multi-level Bill of Material (BOM) structures.
Tolerance stack-up calculation experience.
Working Knowledge of FEA preferred.
Experience or knowledge in manufacturing and fabrication methods.
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work duties and follow through on action items.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact well at all levels.
Ability to work well in a team environment is a must.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects at any given time.
Good verbal and listening skills.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
2 years Associates Degree in technical field, or equivalent.
Must have 5+ years' experience designing downhole oilfield equipment.
Experience with PTC or Mechanical programs required.
Experience with PTC, Pro-E, Creo or Wildfire is required.
Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
