Under general direction, develops and applies advanced mechanical engineering design methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced technical problems.
Plans, conducts and technically directs projects or major phases of significant projects. Coordinates the efforts of engineers and technical support staff. Conducts investigations or tests of considerable complexity pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects. Recommends corrections in technical analysis and design. May provide technical consultation to other organizations and work leadership for lower level employees.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Requires 8 or more years of applicable progressively complex Mechanical Engineering experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Comprehension of practical applications of engineering science and technology. Expert use of analytical and CAD software. Requires expert knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Perform the functions of design engineering of refrigeration systems for supermarket industry. High level experience in design of parallel racks and controllers is required. Refrigeration systems include traditional HFCs direct expansion systems coupled with secondary systems comprising of glycol chillers, pumping skids and associated controls
Develop top level system architecture and design solutions by analyzing the functional requirements, customer specifications, performance/design/regulatory standards and manufacturing capability. Contribute towards optimization of systems and creation of modular systems.
Conduct systems analysis activities including trade-off studies, energy analyses, DFMEA, effectiveness analyses and design reviews. Undertake technical management activities to track progress, evaluate and select alternatives, document design specifications and rationale for decisions.
Develop detailed designs and responsible for the development of system integration plan that maps out how multiple multi-disciplinary elements of system are integrated. Integrate, verify and validate the systems and sub-systems for performance, manufacturability, service, reliability and cost.
Consistently applies established engineering practices, standards and documentation methods. Develops critical data and makes preliminary sketches, technical calculations, notes and documentation for the design.
Prepares or direct preparation of accurate engineering documentation consisting of BOM, specifications, manufacturing / assembly instructions, manufacturing drawings, PID, schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, etc. by coordinating with designers / drafters.
Demonstrate and apply technical and practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering fundamentals to create excellent product solutions. In-depth knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer related to refrigeration cycles and hydronics is a must.
Customize the existing product solutions by integrating with new equipments and keeping up-to-date with changing technologies and requirements. Study, interpret and analyze customer specifications, drawings and documentation, applicable standards and codes.
Represents company at high level projects that involve transitioning of the R&D projects / model solutions into commercial products through StageGate process and acquire design know how from COE and tailor design solutions for Customers.
Maintain technical, regulatory and professional knowledge by reviewing technical publications, codes and standards and best practices with a view to implement in product solutions.
Work with vendors to develop manufacturing process and quality standards for new components. Provide necessary training to manufacturing, sales and customers on manufacturability and application of products.
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience with CAD software is required. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
