Job Description | SUMMARY
The Mechanical Integrity Specialist will focus on the reliability of Marine Transportation's rotating equipment (vessel engines, barge engines, MRF pumps, motors, etc.). The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for reviewing data to trouble shoot and recommend repairs as well predictive maintenance. The successful candidate will also be involved with recommending equipment changes / upgrades (including new equipment), work with Meridium to capture and report costs due to equipment failures (or savings due to predictive work), and be assigned small capital and expense projects to develop and manage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and maintains Marine Transportation standards and practices specific to reliability and mechanical integrity.
Improving Marine Transportation’s rotating equipment mechanical availability (approximately 550 pieces) and reducing expenses though reliability planning, development, integrity (complete and unimpaired), and continuous improvement.
Assists with design & constructability reviews of Marine Transportation projects to ensure Marine’s compliance with MPC and industry standards and practices.
Assists in troubleshooting and resolution of problems affecting mechanical availability in Marine Transportation.
Develops specialized training programs in their area of expertise.
Coordinates critical spare parts philosophy for Marine Transportation on equipment spares.
Ensures that Marine Transportation utilizes outside fabrication and repair shops that have qualified QA/QO programs in place to ensure quality on critical MPC owned pieces of equipment.
Member of T&L Technical Advisory Group (fixed and rotating equipment) and liaison with T&L Standards Group.
Share lessons learned on equipment failures through involvement with incident investigations and troubleshooting.
Recommends changes to current technology and practices based upon relevant research and best practices within the industry.
Recommends changes to create a safer work environment in their area of expertise.
Leads or supports projects for Marine Transportation using MPC’s MPMP process.
