With headquarters in Canton, Ohio, we operate steelmaking centers in Canton and Lorain, Ohio, and value-added rolling and finishing facilities in Canton, Lorain and Massillon, Ohio; Lackawanna, N.Y.; Gary, Ind.; and Hamilton, Ontario.
Reporting to the Department Manager and responsible for manging the front line supervisors, this position will coordinate the daily operations of the Melting, LRS, Ladle Preparation, and Mason operations to assure the achievement of safety, quality, environmental, productivity and cost objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
Directing and managing an hourly and salaried workforce including hiring, training, coaching for performance, administering the basic labor agreement and maintaining positive employee relations.
Managing steelmaking product and process functions, ensuring quality manufacturing of product to customer specifications. This requires facilitating planning and scheduling processes for production.
Managing daily, weekly and monthly inventories for Ferro alloys, fluxes and all other raw materials except scrap, to be used in the melting process according with production plans.
Following daily the performance of the Meltshop operation based on the goals established and communicating to Meltshop Department Manager and/or Plant Manager any deviation of any one.
Identifing improvement opportunities in the Meltshop Operations on safety, quality and productivity.
Participating actively in the problem solving sessions, leading discussions to find solutions to daily operating/quality/safety problems.
Assuring than Meltshop Operations are following the Business Plan goals.
Assuring than Meltshop Operations are performing the Advanced Quality Planning (APQP).
Maintaining sate-of-the-art knowledge in the field.
Evaluating compliance of actual steelmaking practices to SOP.
Job Requirements
Demonstrated experience with EAF steelmaking practices / processes.
Degree in related field of study preferred (Materials Science, Engineering, Metallurgy. Chemistry).
Demonstrated managerial and leadership skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills - the ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel.
Demonstrated trust and integrity.
Demonstrated business aptitude - finance, budgeting, planning, cost control.
Written and oral communication skills.
Excellent computer skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Demonstrated organizational / multi tasking skills.
Demonstrated maintenance knowledge - electrical / mechanical.
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, TS, and QS regulations. |
