Melting or Casting Steelmaking Managers are front-line supervisors who lead and direct the activities of 8-12 steel shop production employees on a rotating shift basis within a basic oxygen furnace melt shop or continuous slab casting operation.
Melting Managers give direction relating to all melt parameters involving heat chemistry, temperature, grade, etc. Casting Managers provide direction concerning slab casting procedures.
Will be responsible for meeting unit objectives involving employee safety, product quality, unit productivity, and efficiency.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
Successful candidates will have at least 2 years of melting experience, ideally in basic oxygen furnace steelmaking or steel casting experience with continuous slab casting equipment.
Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
Seeking motivated professionals who demonstrate sound decision making, effective leadership and interpersonal skills, and have a record of meeting unit objectives.
Successful candidates will have strong problem solving and interpersonal skills, with the ability to operate effectively within a fast paced environment.
Candidates must be willing to work a rotating shift schedule in a heavy manufacturing environment.
A working knowledge of Microsoft applications is required.
