Job Description
Elkhart Products Corporation, the world's largest manufacturer of copper wrot fittings for the plumbing industry, and OEM for HVAC industry and automotive products is currently seeking a Metallurgical Process and Quality Engineer Supervisor for the Fayetteville, Arkansas facility.

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES

Responsible for metallurgical processes, quality assurances, and supporting manufacturing to optimize flow, productivity and yield while meeting cost and quality objectives. Conduct tests on copper metals to determine the structure for such purposes of quality control in its manufacturing fittings and engineered components, the development of new and improved alloys, and the development of better production methods to meet customer specifications in the most cost effective manner. Lead, teach, and mentor area personnel to understand processes and product interaction, customer application, and quality systems.

METALLURGICAL DUTIES

Teams up with Tube Mill Manager to run an efficient process, producing material for entry into manufacturing

Determine metallurgical practices

Apply knowledge and skills in managing processes of drawing and copper tube manufacturing, mechanical, chemical, and alloys for precision results

Conduct various tests on metals and alloys to determine their internal structure, physical properties, and prescribed standards

Understands molten metal treatment and impact forging

Metal matrix, rolling, and shear fact extrusion technology expertise

Develop methods to manufacture low cost alloys

Assist in the control temperature and charge mixtures in furnaces

Identify opportunities for metallurgical process improvement in regards to efficiency, quality, and conformance.

Develop melting, hot-working, cold-working, and heat-treating processes to obtain desired
characteristics.

Performs metallurgical analysis of all incoming materials from suppliers

QUALITY ENGINEER DUTIES

Lead efforts to assure quality of metal and finished products

Look to improve product and process development to ensure quality is attained

Conduct inspection and test planning

Determine root cause and corrective action as it pertains to deviant material or product

Find ways of reusing scrap metal/recycling solid waste materials and in using low grade ores

Determine quality policy and set tone for plant product flow path

Understands and applies metallurgical concepts, review customer standards and specifications

Provide guidance for successful implementation of Kaizen methodology for team oriented continuous improvements within plant

Oversee quality systems and ensure compliance for local facility

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

Experience in Non-Ferrous metal process engineering from extrusion, precision tubing, drawing, heat treatment, and finishing operations.

Versed in Lean Manufacturing techniques

Strong in mathematics, chemistry, and physics

Understands engineering principles in industries where metals and alloys are processed or
fabricated into finished products

Keen thinking skills, both strategically, tactical, and preventative

Provide leadership in capability and compliance technical audits, both for Tube Mill and quality systems

Effective program management skills with a bias for action

Understands business objectives impacting scope of position and prioritize efforts to achieve results

Applies problem solving principles to process management systems.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS / CONSIDERATIONS:

5 – 10 years metallurgical and/or quality experience within a manufacturing environment.

This includes product technical reviews/dispositions, improvement initiative, and leading quality system activities

° 3 – 5 years of major professional accomplishments, including increased responsibility
and leadership of projects and teams of considerable size, scope, and complexity

° At least 2 years of supervision experience

Quality experience in metals industry

Sufficient experience and background in accounting, PC Skills, manufacturing, human resources management, inventory control, and strategic planning

Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills in producing results by meeting organizational

objectives

Exemplary leadership abilities, positive attitude,

Six Sigma Certification, Lean Principles Training, Lean Manufacturing Systems a plus

Dedication to change management, leadership with a positive attitude, and belief that people are valued assets

B.S in Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science, or Engineering is strongly preferred
Very limited travel
