Latrobe Specialty Metals, a division of Carpenter Technology a world leader in the manufacture and distribution of specialty alloys and engineered materials, has an opening for a Metallurgist with experience in nickel based superalloys as well as ferrous and/or stainless steel used in the Aerospace industry to be located in our Latrobe PA facility.
In this important role you would: Have responsibility for product metallurgy coverage of nickel based superalloys for the aerospace industry by providing a diversified range of technical service to external and internal customers. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to customer communication and assistance, development of manufacturing processes and lineups for bar and billet, disposition of referred and discrepant material, improvement of product quality, cost control and variation reduction.
The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, knowledge of statistics and the ability to apply them for process and product improvement, project management skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills. A minimum BS in Materials Engineering or equivalent is required. Experience and/or knowledge of high temperature alloys, nickel alloys as well as some experience in ferrous metallurgy is desireable.. A background in Six Sigma is preferred but not required.
