Job Description | Overview:
Assists the Manager of Quality Assurance and Metallurgy in planning, coordinating and directing of quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products that consistently meet customer requirements. Assists in establishing raw material standards and process testing during the manufacturing process. Directs the Quality Assurance Technicians engaged in inspection and testing activities. Assumes responsibilities of Manager of Quality Assurance/Metallurgy in his/her absence.
Responsibilities:
Directs the Quality Assurance Technicians engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products. Maintains testing facilities so that downtime is minimized. Insures that the Quality Assurance Manager is apprised of departmental performance and concerns.
Assists in developing and analyzing product specifications to insure finished products meet customer requirements.
Assists in maintaining time and temperature cycles as well as run speeds for the Galvanizing and Patenting operations to result in high quality products. Provides wire drawing sequences and lubrication type recommendations which result in the highest rates of production with minimum defects. Establishes and maintains proper controls/procedures for all clean and coat operations (batch cleaning house as well as in-line systems on Patenting and Galvanizing lines.
Assists in performing laboratory studies, analyzes complaints, and makes recommendations to upgrade the quality of the product so that it meets all customer
requirements. Provides metallurgical input for short and long range planning.
Assists in evaluating new practices and procedures (including customer inquiries).
Continually evaluates raw material and raw material suppliers. Helps coordinate with suppliers to ensure continuing source of necessary materials and equipment. Provides technical information to customers. Maintains files of wire testing data. Assists in evaluation of wire investigations.
Assures that all labor disputes are handled in a timely and efficient manner and resolved where possible, in compliance with the labor agreement.
Trains employees as necessary.
Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the Manager of Quality Assurance/Metallurgy.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in the field of Metallurgy
Engineering. Prefer one to two years related experience and/or training in Engineering in a manufacturing environment |
