POSITION INFORMATION:

Job/Position Summary:

Primary duties include:

Maintains quality and established fabricating practices for assigned products Identifies areas for product improvement, designs experiments, analyzes data, issues reports, and initiates practice changes

Provides disposition on metal and evaluates cause of problems Initiates cost reduction trials and implements improved practices

Works collaboratively to establish critical process variables, limits, and procedures

Establishes special practices for non-standard products Follows trials and qualification orders through production operations and evaluates suitability for customer requirements

Assesses competitor activities and product performance attributes to establish industry benchmarks Investigates customer complaints and initiates corrective action

Supervisory responsibilities include:

Help employees set and obtain goals

Help prioritize activities for employees as necessary

Give performance appraisals

Transfer gains and knowledge between products

Attend meetings as position requires to represent employees and product lines

Provide training opportunities or train individuals as necessary

Suggest new/different/most suitable problem solving techniques

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Materials, Metallurgy, or Metallurgical Engineering

10 Years Experience in a rolling mill

Exceptional problem solving skills required to assess customer equipment/product performance issues

Must be able to write technical reports.

Must be able to transfer technical information into layman’s terms for complete communication.

Must have ability to write technically oriented reports that are understood by the general public.

Ability to work with a broad cross section of people from top managers, hourly work force and internal and external customers.

Ability to handle multiple tasks and establish appropriate priority.

General understanding of applied statistical analysis (e.g. regression), quality-engineering techniques (e.g. SPC).

General understanding of MS-Office Products (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Desired Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Materials, Metallurgy, or Metallurgical Engineering

ASQ-CQE or CQA Certification Experience in a metals or can industry

Date Position Available: Immediately


Salary: Commensurate with experience
