Job Description | Supervisor responsibilities:
Directly manage crews of 10-15 hourly employees to achieve maximum production of top quality products in a safe and efficient manner. Indirectly responsible for managing up to 40-50 employees at any given time.
Must plan and organize daily shift activities, determining manpower requirements and manpower utilization necessary to meet and/or exceed desired goals. Responsible for scheduling of hourly employees.
Communicate company plans and expectations to hourly employees and the minimum requirements of the hourly employees. Listen to subordinates. Evaluate suggestions, ideas and recommendations from subordinates.
Set objectives for crew and communicate those objectives. Issue instruction and directions. Must have good communication skills. Ability to achieve results through others.
Engineering responsibilities:
Apply engineering and continuous improvement principles to day-to-day operation of the plan and assist in the management of plant processes.
Write manufacturing instructions (SOPs) for various operations within the Protein & Starch and Distillery Plant (s).
Train management and hourly employees on equipment, equipment operation and process.
This position evaluations equipment and system performance in order to ensure minimal down time and establish corrective plans if the variances are detected.
This position will be responsible for the project management and project management support on an as-needed basis.
Accountable for continuous improvement of plant performance, safety, environmental and product quality objectives.
Required Skills
Troubleshooting to diagnose and correct operational problems, reduce energy consumption, and increase yields so that the operation can be brought inside optimum operational limits.
Training to coach operators and shift managers in new methods or processes.
Computer systems, including Microsoft Office, company specific software programs, and an understanding of computerized maintenance management systems.
Process innovation to bring a technical approach to the Protein & Starch and the Distillery
Plant(s) in terms of the way the process is operated. Seek improved methods of production, maintenance, increase yields energy efficiency, quality and safety.
Work with available process history to assure production and quality issues are properly addressed.
General working knowledge of process controls for troubleshooting, process improvement, reduced energy usage, increased yields, and possible control upgrades
Project management: ability to organize and manage multiple projects through manufacturing process.

Required Experience
Education and Training – B.S. Degree in technical field required; Chemical, Mechanical or
Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
