Operations Manager

Job Description
This position provides operational guidance, support to electrical and mechanical maintenance for New Hope Power Plant operations. The Operations Manager has the primary responsibility of overseeing the proper working of plant operations including all electrical and mechanical systems. This position is responsible for day-to-day operation, planning and scheduling plant operations for corrective, predictive and planned maintenance including but not limited to all related mechanical and electrical systems. The Operations Manager will lead, direct under normal conditions and support maintenance team activities and oversee all personnel responsible for planning, coordinating and scheduling of operations to ensure a safe and efficient execution that optimizes plant equipment performance and availability.

•Must be able to work with plant staff to support design and effectively implement the plant preventative electrical and mechanical maintenance strategy.
•Must be able to direct the operations department to meet production targets following safety, and environmental compliance.
•Must be able to develop, implement and evaluate operation policies and procedures.
•This position is the primary point of contact for all operations issues.
•Must be able to support the installation activities, commissioning and start-up of all mechanical and electrical systems, alongside Maintenance and Engineering Team Members.
•Must be able to perform Quality Assurance and Quality Control as applicable to Operations activities of all types.
•Must be able to delegate to and supervise all internal operations and contractors that support Operations.
•Monitors compliance with company internal policies and procedures to address loss prevention and control.
•Monitors the plant's operation in compliance with all federal, state, county and local operating permits.
•Must be able to assist and support internal plant safety policies and initiatives.
•Must be able to design appropriate training in order to train and develop the operations staff in the area of power plant operations, processes and procedures.
•Investigates accidents and injuries, and prepares reports of findings.


•Must be capable of maintaining an awareness of the financial impact of services and support.
•Monitors employees work levels and reviews work performance while identifying, developing and implementing training for the operations team as needed.
•Capable of utilizing maintenance program (SAP) in support of Maintenance and Engineering to develop and schedule preventive maintenance work orders including prioritizing and determining assignment for in-house personnel and/or contractors.
•This position is responsible for the operations expenses, cost tracking and budget control for all operations programs, i.e. overtime.
•Must be able to prepare outage expense reports to show cost tracking during outage.
•Must be able to prepare outage scope of work, schedule and recommendations as relates to Operations’ participation for future outages.
•Must be able to prepare outage reports that reflect findings, repairs conducted and recommendations for the future maintenance budget.
•Must be able to negotiate the facility work environment especially as pertains to teaming with all facility department representatives.
•Able to assist as needed in plant operation emergencies.
•This position is responsible for assisting in assessing and prioritizing work based on critical systems and equipment requirements, production needs and age of work orders of power plant mechanical, electrical and control system essentials.
•This position is responsible for supporting the coordination and prioritizing of planned maintenance during scheduled shut downs by communicating with operations staff and outside contractors.

Job Requirements
•B.S. Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with hands on experience in the lesser of the two. A two year degree may be acceptable with significant Operations management experience. NOTE: Educational requirements must be able to be completed within two years of appointment to position, if not completed prior to assuming role.
•8 – 10 years mid to upper management experience as an Operations Manager preferably in a power plant facility.
•Have knowledge of various types of boilers, electrical systems and associated auxiliary systems.
•Extensive experience in supporting the development, implementation and maintaining of a preventative maintenance program in a Co-Generation power plant.
•Must be able to work within and promote a team based environment amongst their peers and subordinate employees.
•Capable of understanding, planning and management of budget resources.
•Able to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner with plant employees at all working and management levels.
•Ability to recognize operational inconsistencies and hazards in the work place and display proper judgment in dealing with them appropriately.
•Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power point, etc.).
•Ability to receive, comprehend and utilize OSHA required training.
