Job Description | North Star Imaging is a $35M business in a market of ~$300M. We manufacture industrial x-ray and CT capital equipment systems.
The primary function of this position is to take daily leadership, management and full operational responsibility for all Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Service in order to meet the business targets for on time delivery, customer service, growth and profitability. This position is responsible for resource scheduling and cross-functional team building. He/She will evaluate existing plans to ensure growth and profitability and make adjustments as necessary. The Operations Manager will motivate a team who will carry out all of the day to day functions necessary to build and maintain an efficient manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities/Duties
This Operations Manager is responsible for building and improving critical interfaces between engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain for both the standard and custom factories and must contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of the overall North Star strategic plan. This role is also a strong contributor to the development of long-term strategies, policies and practices aligned with ITW standards.
This position reports to the Business Unit Manager, and provides leadership to 4 direct reports and 38+ indirect reports in manufacturing, engineering, purchasing & service.
•Review sales forecast and prepare the operational strategic plan to address volume and resource requirements
•Provide resource scheduling and guidance to direct reports
•Monitor the daily production throughput for department(s) to ensure that production standards are met and are consistent with pricing guidelines. Deliver within quality and budget targets.
•Utilize financial data to improve profitability. Prepare and control operational budgets and inventory. Plan effective strategies for the financial well-being of the company.
•Oversee and continually update the production schedule
•Through training and other appropriate means, continue to upgrade the skills and industry knowledge of all members of the team
•Develop standards, performance benchmarks, and objective goals. Motivate, manage and develop staff to meet or exceed standards.
•Assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity. Implement and manage operational plans short term, as well as strategic plans.
•Assure that the quality of production and purchased products meet or exceed the required standards.
•Develop and implement systems and controls to ensure that the division’s customer service goal of on time shipping performance is achieved.
•Establish a results-oriented management style that measures and evaluates individual contribution against clearly defined performance goals.

Required Experience
Successful candidates must have 10 years of relevant work experience including a of broad technical experience with at least 10 years management experience in manufacturing environment. Electronics experience a must.
NDT experience a plus!
•Strong leadership skills. Experienced in concurrent management of multiple direct reports in various departments
•Experience in continuous improvement / Lean/ 5S / Six Sigma methodologies.
•Effective presentation/communication skills. Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
•Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, as well as write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
