| Job Description | Diamond, renowned worldwide for the application of unique technologies, materials and processes to the manufacture of high-performance fiber optic components, seeks an Optical Mechanical Development Engineer for their US office in Chelmsford, MA.
The Optical Mechanical Development Engineer will be a lead contributor in the development of our optical interconnects assemblies and products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Become thoroughly familiar with Diamond's technologies and processes and harness them into innovative, customer-driven solutions.
•Identify ways that the company's present expertise and capabilities can be extended to address new markets and applications.
•Interface with and build upon the knowledge of technical experts at Diamond USA and at the parent company to clarify and resolve problems and improve production operations.
•Research and analyze data such as customer design proposals, specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of designs or applications.
•Support Sales by providing expert, knowledgeable technical support to address complex, project-oriented customer inquiries.
•Communicate and coordinate, as necessary, with customers and with Sales Manager, Account Managers, Regional Sales Managers and Diamond SA personnel to understand, characterize and successfully resolve technical issues, and to develop profitable new business opportunities.
Requirements/Skills
• A minimum B.S. in Optical or Mechanical Engineering, or significant track record of direct, relevant experience working with fiber optic components or systems
•Must be able to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
•Must be able to build confidence and trust with present and potential customers, and with internal personnel to ensure continued business growth.
•Must be able to analyze and understand issues from the viewpoints of others, and tailor actions and responses accordingly.
•Familiarity with CAD software highly desired.
•Must possess situational awareness.
•Must be able to think, develop solutions creatively, and solve problems independently.
