Imagine being part of a team that is fundamentally changing the way people communicate, the way they collaborate, the way they watch TV and explore the universe through the internet. Utilizing our uniquely differentiated technology, we have created a Digital Optical Networking system with more speed, capacity and scalability than ever before. Imagine a world with unlimited bandwidth. The network of tomorrow will allow for content and creativity limited only by the imaginations of its users.

If this is something that interests you, that excites you, come take a look at a team not bound by large company obstacles and bureaucracy, where an idea today can be set in motion tomorrow. Come take a look at Infinera!

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

As part of the optical architecture team, you will be responsible for supporting the technical analysis of Infinera's optical network designs. Primary responsibilities include simulation of optical network architectures and enhancement of optical network design and modeling tool capabilities.

Architectural simulation responsibilities include:

--detailed quantitative analysis of performance tradeoffs among different optical line system architecture options

--analytic studies of how different component and subsystem performance options impact optical network performance and cost

Network design and modeling tool responsibilities include:

--participating in the definition of tool functions and capabilities

--developing, executing, and documenting optical design tool test cases

--extending tool capabilities to resolve non-standard customer design problems

Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

- Knowledge of optical system performance capabilities in areas including optical amplifier performance, link OSNR evolution, optical filtering penalties, nonlinear transmission penalties, coherent transmission technologies

--Strong understanding of optical network components including coherent transponders, optical amplifiers, and ROADM's

--Excellent communication and presentation skills

--Strong object-oriented programming and computer simulation skills, with working knowledge of Matlab and vb.net.

Education Required:

--Ph.D. in Optics, Applied Physics, or Electrical Engineering or M.S. in one if these fields with 5+ years of relevant experience
