Job Summary
We are seeking an Optical Thin Films Coating Engineer to research, design, and develop
complex thin film coatings. The ideal candidate will have in-depth familiarity with a wide
variety of coating types using e-beam and ion-source process technologies, along with
associated metrology. Troubleshooting designs and improving predictability of outcomes is also required. The ideal candidate will have intellectual drive and will want to take a
handson approach to achieve results.
Responsibilities Outline
Research, design, and development of complex thin films coatings, materials,
coating processes and the design of related tooling.
Oversee the formulation of thin film coating run instructions and procedures, and
ensure implementation.
Determine cause and correction procedures for failed coating runs.
Determine coating and test equipment manufacturing capability/test accuracy and
recommend equipment upgrades, modifications, and/or improvement.
Develop new coating equipment/process technology.
Develop new processes to optimize and expand existing manufacturing capability.
Essential Skills and Requirements
Masters degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or Material Science
Minimum of 7 years experience in optical thin films coating
Mechanical and technical ability
Methodical and detail-oriented
Organized
Effective communicator (written and oral)
Ability to multi-task
Production-minded
Strong work ethic
