Job Summary

We are seeking an Optical Thin Films Coating Engineer to research, design, and develop
complex thin film coatings. The ideal candidate will have in-depth familiarity with a wide
variety of coating types using e-beam and ion-source process technologies, along with
associated metrology. Troubleshooting designs and improving predictability of outcomes is also required. The ideal candidate will have intellectual drive and will want to take a
handson approach to achieve results.

Responsibilities Outline

• Research, design, and development of complex thin films coatings, materials,
coating processes and the design of related tooling.

• Oversee the formulation of thin film coating run instructions and procedures, and
ensure implementation.

• Determine cause and correction procedures for failed coating runs.

• Determine coating and test equipment manufacturing capability/test accuracy and
recommend equipment upgrades, modifications, and/or improvement.

• Develop new coating equipment/process technology.

• Develop new processes to optimize and expand existing manufacturing capability.

Essential Skills and Requirements

• Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or Material Science

• Minimum of 7 years experience in optical thin films coating

• Mechanical and technical ability

• Methodical and detail-oriented

• Organized

• Effective communicator (written and oral)

• Ability to multi-task

• Production-minded

• Strong work ethic

• Positive attitude
