The Product Manager is responsible for strategic positioning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including: defining the vision of the category, gathering and prioritizing market requirements, and working in conjunction with sales, marketing, engineering, and supply chain in order to meet the customer satisfaction, strategic, and financial goals of the organization.

RESPONSIBILTIES:

Prepare business plans in line with organizational initiatives detailing future activities and forecasting performance.

Refine the product assortment to best fit customer needs and company goals.

Conduct market research and analyze market data to identify opportunities and/or threats that could impact the product category.

Develop/implement pricing and branding strategies to optimize revenue, margin, and inventory.

Create/participate in promotional campaigns to increase product awareness and market share.

Perform reviews, maintenance, and reports on product categories.

Attend and participate in industry conferences, conventions, and trade shows.

Coordinate product management activities with various department and branch personnel.

Work to ensure a stable and quality vendor base.

Negotiate with suppliers to ensure optimal product quality, cost, and delivery conditions.

Work in conjunction with sales personnel and customers to better understand market needs.

Prepare surveys and confer with management regarding marketing strategy.
REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of fasteners, cutting tools, abrasives, electrical supplies, fluid power products and shop-type MRO items is helpful. PC literacy in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required and MS Access proficiency is preferred.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Three to five years’ experience in industrial distribution, purchasing, sales, or product management required.

Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field of specialization to the completion of moderately difficult assignments.

Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity.

Has appreciable latitude for un-reviewed actions and decisions.

Must demonstrate evidence of strong mechanical aptitude.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
