Packaging Production Manager

Description Main Objective:
The Packaging Production Manager is responsible for managing clean room manufacturing operations for Kitting, Labeling, Final Device Assembly, Boxing, and Final Packaging. This position will be responsible for managing Kitting operations including the receipt, staging, lot/quantity control, and issuance of materials. This position requires an assertive problem solver who is a change agent and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages daily throughput of Kitting, Label Printing, Final Device Assembly, and Boxing/Final Packaging production by controlling resources (machines, personnel, and exceptions) to ensure efficient productivity, work quality, and documentation (DHR) completeness and accuracy.

• Conducts periodic review and recommends changes to materials, equipment, and manpower resource requirements.

• Coordinates production activities with other functional groups such as Quality Control, Planning, and Sterilization.

• Reviews master production schedule to ensure requirements are in line with available capacities and makes recommendations for schedule changes that optimize equipment, personnel, materials, and time.

• Confers with Engineering in relation to non-compliances, product packaging configurations, assembly design issues, and continuous improvement.

• Responsible for developing and executing production plans to maximize plant capacity and meet the production schedule. Analyzes and resolves production efficiency problems.

• Responsible for establishing and maintaining acceptable quality levels for all assigned products including failure investigation and root cause correction as necessary.

• Coordinates with the cross-functional departments for the timely disposition of nonconforming material.

• Completes quarterly and annual capacity/staffing analysis for upper management.

• Accountable for managing, meeting, and reporting Key Performance Indicators (metrics) for production.

• Enforces use of Lean techniques to ensure the most cost effective manufacturing process is being utilized and materials are always available.

• Ensures on-time delivery of finished goods to Sterilization to meet the production build schedule.

• Manage effectiveness and accuracy of stock room issuance, consignment, and Kanban inventory activities to meet the master production schedule.

• Manages Label Printing operations in Kitting, Clean Room, Boxing and Final Packaging operations.

• Drafts and maintains departmental procedures setting best practices for Kitting and Packaging Supervisors and Production Coordinators/Kitting Leads.

• Manages supervisors across all shifts.

• Interprets and enforces company policies and practices.

• Assists supervisors in completing performance appraisals, prepares rate increase and/or promotional recommendations.

• Performs periodic performance feedback, formal performance reviews and handles disciplinary actions.

• Schedules training & ensures documentation of required training activities.

• Supports Arthrex’s Continuous Improvement Program.

• Implement Corporate and Safety initiatives.

Requirements Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years production management.

• Experience in a high volume medical device manufacturing environment is preferred.

• Expereince with Lean Manufacturing methods and Kanban systems required.

• Experience with Oracle (or equivalent) desired.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

• Ability to read and understand Bills of Material (BOMs), Routers, Work Instructions in written or graphical form.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from subordinates, peers, and upper management.

• Strong strategic leadership and decision making skills needed.

• Ability to do effective production planning regarding manpower requirements to ensure that work orders are done on time.

• Understanding of effective and efficient methods of storing and managing inventory.

• Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines & production demands in a complex and dynamic manufacturing environment.

• Must be able to analyze production data/reports to assess impact on throughput, efficiencies, and other KPIs.

• Working knowledge of CAPA process.

• Working knowledge of Lean/Visual Mgmt.

• Strong conflict management and problem solving skills

• Able to manage diversity.

• The ability to build teamwork and maintain excellent communication across all shifts and with other areas of the factory is required.

• Proficient in Microsoft computer applications and ERP systems

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

• Microsoft Office (Project, Word, Excel, Viso, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• MES/ERP System (QAD, Oracle, SAP, etc.)

• Payroll/Labor Management (UltiPro, etc.)
