Job Description:
Johns Manville is currently seeking candidates for the position of Plant Manager to be located in Defiance, Ohio. The position is responsible for providing the overall management and leadership for a unionized manufacturing entity with over 500 employees. Ideal candidate will have previous plant management experience and has the drive to lead significant improvement. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.

Description
•Improve efficiency yield and capacity through capital expenditure and process improvement. (investing opportunities to increase the plant capacity and ability to produce additional product).
•Establish and support a positive labor relations environment.
•Lead, manages and develops plant employees to assure the necessary capabilities and culture is in place to maintain an effective operation. This includes establishing direction, gaining commitment, delegating, and building organizational capabilities.
•Represent JM to external communities and agencies.
•Coordinate the activities of the facility and resources accordingly.
•Create a work environment that ensures the safety and health of employees, community and environment.
•Focus on continuing to improve the competitiveness of the operations.
•Develop and coach a staff that is committed to the JM value structure and achievement of business goals.
•Model behaviors relating to the JM values of people, performance, passion and protection; as well as the JM pillars of Integrity, Environmental Commitment, Employee Commitment, Operational Excellence, Financial Strength and Customer Satisfaction.
•Recognize customer commitment and drives activity for continued quality improvement.
•Participate in managing a major expansion project in the next year.

Requirements:
•BS Degree - Business or Technical
•7+ years of positions with increasing levels of responsibility in a manufacturing environment
•5+ years of managing salaried employees ideally in a plant manager role
•Experience with a process discipline such as Six Sigma, Keppner-Tregoe, Lean or equivalent.
•Direct experience with production, warehouse and maintenance activities
•Knowledge or experience of manufacturing engineer, facilities maintenance, and quality
•Demonstrated ability to prioritize and make timely decisions
•Previous experience with managing employee safety
•Previous experience in managing environmental compliance
•Understanding of financial systems and controls - including ability to analyze budget and cost data, determine trends and apply corrective actions to achieve desired financial goals.
•Solid project planning and management skills, using standard project management tools.
•Proven ability to develop strong teams
•Demonstrated ability to implement recommendations and drive change initiatives.
•Proven collaborative and participative management skills are essential.
•Proven communications skills in all directions are essential.
•Experience to network/team build with peers and superiors in other manufacturing plants and in group headquarters functions.
