ATS has an immediate opening for an LPC Cost Engineer Specialist.

Responsibilities will include:

The LCP phase I process encompasses a teardown of machines which requires the development of Should Cost Modeling to aid in the trade-off analysis at the machine report out to stakeholders. Adequate detailes are provided, on all parts, to develop solid Should cost Models. Incumbent will deliver a summary report including piece-part component estimates, with cost drivers identified. this position requires the creation and/or use of simplified templates/procedures for the cost analysis related to competitve machine teardowns for competitive analysis of selected machines. Individual should be able to estimate the cost per requirement by apportioning cost on a piece-part basis through known cost drivers without the use of a formalized tool using prints and/or in-the-iron.

In addition to the LCP Phase I capabilities, the LCP Phase II process requires a Should Cost Model be developing during an Integration Event on a possible new concept sub-assembly. Incumbent must have the capability of developing a Should Cost Model on this high-level conceptual sub-assembly with limited time and few details. Travel (3-5 days) at this time, is limited to Illinois.

Position requires a product and process engineering background with heavy focus on production routings and cost. Incumbent should have familiarity with various processes that support product and development. Individual should possess excellent interpersonal skills in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions. Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.





A four-year degree or quivalent experience is required.

Minimum 10-15 years a product costing or production routing work experience.

Non-metallic (Plastics, Rubber, etc) experience.

Parts Costing background in: Non-metallic materials, moldings and forming, castings of various metals, electronics and harnesses, tubes and hoses, light fabrications, heavy fabrications, hydraulics.

Manufacturing Process - Injection molding, Rotational molding (aka Rotomolding), vacuum molding, Sheet Molded Compounds.

Demonstravted experience working with cross-functional groups in a product development/manufacturing environment.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Understanding of different cost and labor rates around the world

Understanding of period cost drivers for existing supply base

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Word

Ability to learn proprietary Should Cost software


Desirable Experience:

*Financial background/experience and/or product testing experience.



*Knowledge/experience with Engineering Design System (EDS)



*Supplier development and/or supplier quoting experience



*Strong organization and data analysis skills



*Pro/E knowledge
