This position is for Weyerhaeuser's Cellulose Fibers business in Columbus, Mississippi. As one of the largest softwood pulp producers in the world, this location produces bleached softwood pulp for use in paper and specialty products such as absorbent personal care products, pharmaceuticals, and photographic-based papers. Weyerhaeuser's cellulose fiber manufacturing facilities are located across the United States and Canada.



We have an immediate opening for an experienced Process Engineer. This position is responsible for technical and process engineering support to the Power and Recovery area of the Kraft system. Primary scope of operations covered will be from the evaporators through the recausticizing area of the mill including the recovery boiler.

Tasks and responsibilities:

Lead efforts to optimize processes, reduce process variability, lower manufacturing costs, and ensure product quality.

Facilitate problem-solving activities as needed to resolve process and quality issues.

Build working relationships with the manufacturing organization.

Assist in the development of Technology Team technicians assigned to the Kraft system.

Maintain awareness of current and emerging technologies applicable to our business.

Participate in leadership activities within the Kraft system as needed.

Maintain information-sharing links with other mills and R&D.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Minimum BS in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Pulp & Paper, or Related Technical Discipline

Minimum 2 Years of Power & Recovery or Pulp & Paper Experience

Knowledge of process control fundamentals and instrumentation applications

Knowledge of capital project justification and estimation principles

Knowledge of Statistical Process Control methodology and troubleshooting/problem solving techniques

Awareness of interactions between fiberline processes and final product quality and customer satisfaction

Able to teach others and support a high performance work environment

Strong Microsoft Office Suite Competency

Excellent Communication (Oral and Written) and Interpersonal Skills

High Level of Initiative and Motivation

Excellent Planning and Organization Skills

Excellent Prioritization and Problem Solving Skills

Able to Excel with Minimum Supervision

Desire to Aggressively Learn and Continue to Develop Knowledge and Skills

Preferred Qualifications

5+ Years of Power and Recovery Experience
Prior Leadership Experience
Prefer a candidate who demonstrates interest in learning and functioning within all departments in the Kraft system
Experience with SAP
