Job Description | Overview:
Power-One designs and manufactures energy-efficient power conversion and power management solutions, including inverters for alternate/renewable energy (solar and wind) and products for routers, data storage and servers, wireless communications, optical networking, semiconductor test equipment, industrial markets and custom applications. Power-One, with headquarters in Camarillo, California, has global sales offices, manufacturing, and R&D operations in Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
The Renewable Energy Solutions SBU at Power-One designs, manufactures and sells inverters and related infrastructure products for the solar and wind markets. Power-One’s newest facility supporting the Renewable Energy Solutions group is located in Phoenix, Arizona and it will produce its industry-leading photovoltaic and wind inverters, including single phase (2-6KW) and three phase string inverters, and NEMA 3R 250KW and 300KW central inverters.
Position Summary:
The PowerStation Program Manager is responsible for focusing on our 3rd party suppliers who supply the integration, wiring, transformers and associated electrical equipment for the PowerStation product. This individual will work with Marketing to ensure the costing/pricing is acceptable to Power-One and meets the market needs. Will also be responsible for qualifying new vendors, and ensuring the quality of purchased components.
The Power Station Program Manager will work towards optimizing the PowerStation for innovative design improvements.
Responsibilities:
Sources, selects, and qualifies components used in the company’s technology.
Investigates alternate component technologies or supplies, reducing cost and improving quality and reliability.
Performs cost analysis and volume planning.
Acts as technical interface between component/production suppliers and development engineers, determining new and alternate sources.
Investigates alternate component technologies or supplies for reduced cost or improved quality and reliability, and implements changes.
Develops guidelines/procedures on vendor selection.
Evaluates supplier change notification and qualifies changes, as needed.
May maintain component data management system including qualification records/results/documentation.
Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to negotiate highest quality at best value.
Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive.
May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis or alternative sourcing.
Interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management or other related study
10+ years of Project Management experience
